The clutch pressure plate is one of the essential transmission components of the vehicle. It can press the clutch driven plate onto the flywheel to transmit the engine torque, and in turn, control the rotation of the driven plate. There are generally two types of clutch pressure plate assemblies: with coil springs and with diaphragm springs. The difference between them is the way they press the pressure plate toward and away from the clutch driven plate. The function of the clutch pressure plate is to press the clutch driven plate onto the flywheel with sufficient force to effectively transmit the engine torque, and the driven plate stops rotating when it is separated from the clutch.
